Having worked as a pet grooming R&D engineer for three years, I’ll be explaining the production process of pet grooming products in detail today: water preparation, ingredient mixing, stirring, emulsification, aging, labeling, filling, coding, capping, and sealing. The first step is water preparation, where tap water undergoes two reverse osmosis treatments to remove impurities, some minerals, and bacteria, ensuring that the conductivity of the production water is ≤5, fully meeting the purity standard.

Good water quality is the first step to making a good product.
The second step is ingredient preparation, where the ingredient specialist prepares the ingredients according to the formula provided by the R&D department.
This step is crucial, directly determining the product quality.
The third step is to place the prepared ingredients into a mixing tank for homogenization, ensuring the raw materials are fully combined. This mixing process is divided into regular mixing and antibacterial mixing*. Regular mixing is easy to understand; it’s used for products like pet shampoos and conditioners that provide cleaning and care. Antibacterial/antimicrobial mixing is typically used for products like pet deodorizers and pet eye drops that have antibacterial properties.

The fourth step is emulsification, which is the process of fusing the aqueous and oil phases.
Normally, water and oil are immiscible, but under high temperature and vacuum conditions with high-speed stirring (4700 rpm), the water and oil are broken down into ionic states, allowing them to naturally fuse.
This emulsification process is suitable for paste-like or wax-like products, specifically oil-based products, such as pet conditioners, dog nasal balms, and pet paw balms. Some shampoos also require hot mixing, which necessitates emulsification. These shampoos tend to have better stability and higher quality.

The fifth step is aging, which allows impurities to settle and takes at least 72 hours.
The sixth step is labeling. Affix a brand-specific label to each bottle of product.
Step 7: Filling
The automated filling machine is controlled by a PLC system. Based on the customer’s required capacity, the data is set, and filling begins immediately.
Step 8: Inkjet printing – Print the production date.
Step 9: Capping – The capping machine tightens the caps.
Step 10: Plastic sealing.

Each bottle of product is then sealed in plastic; after sealing, it becomes the finished product we receive.
The above is the production process for pet grooming products. The process for human-grade grooming products is the same, except that the required raw materials and production qualifications differ.
